Pee pad training your puppy

It is important to train your puppy to use a pee pad from a young age, generally you should start as soon as you buy your puppy and take it home. You really don’t want random messes around the house. You can buy puppy pee pads from all pet supply stores like Pet Mania.

Pee pad training will help your puppy learn where it is appropriate to go to the bathroom. Pee pads can be placed in strategic locations around your home, the more the better!

Your puppy should be taken to the pee pad regularly so that they can learn to associate it with going to the bathroom. Rewards such as treats or praise should be given when your puppy uses the pee pad successfully. You can try bringing your puppy to the pad after eating, drinking from their water bowl, after waking up.

If your puppy has an accident, do not punish them but instead clean up the mess and try again later. Also replace the dirty pad with a new one.

Some puppies may take longer to learn than others but eventually they will get it with patience and consistency from you! Never yell or scold your puppy if they have an accident, this will only make them more scared and confused.Always remember that accidents happen, even when your pup is fully trained, so never get too frustrated if it happens every now and then.

If you are finding that the pee pads are not effective in training your puppy, it may be time to stop, or if it is no longer interested in using the pee pads, it may be time to stop and to training them to go outside. Do make sure that your new puppy has had all its vaccinations needed to go outside.

Have fun while training your new furry friend!
